Battlefield 6 has some of the smallest maps in the series

A dedicated one Battlefield 6 fan has compared maps from across the series and revealed that the latest game has some of the tightest holds. EA's latest effort in the long-running FPS franchise had a lot to live up to, and while it has largely put the property back on the map, players still have some gripes with the title. Battlefield 6s multiplayer maps have come under particular scrutiny, and now it's clear that it's not just a figment of players' imaginations.

The latest in Battlefield the line-up has got off to a brilliant start. It only took five days Battlefield 6 to sell over 7 million copies and earn hundreds of millions in gross revenue. Still, not everything has gone as the developers would have liked, with some issues remaining since the open beta.

Scale comparison shows that Battlefield 6 maps are among the smallest in the series

Redditor ClaraTheRed posted a detailed breakdown of multiplayer maps from Battlefield 3, 4, Hardline, 1, 2042and 6shows how Battlefield 6 falls on the smaller size. Players have complained about Battlefield 6s small maps since before the full game was out, and now, thanks to this comparison, they have some validation. It's not just that the arenas feel smaller. They actually have much less playable space to move around in compared to some of the franchise's most popular titles, although a couple of maps buck that trend and offer a relatively large space.

While Operation Firestorm and Mirak Valley fall within the upper half of the series' map sizes, the rest are off Battlefield 6is on the other side of things. When adjusting for playable space, not just total area, four of the game's maps (Siege of Cairo, Iberian Offensive, Empire State, and Saints Quarter) are among the smallest five of the titles studied. Only Battlefield 3s Ziba Tower is smaller than the four. In particular, Battlefield 3 and 4which fans consider to be some of the best Battlefield game by game, offers many of the franchise's biggest maps.

Several users in the comments suggested that the problem with Battlefield 6s small maps are not necessarily just their size. Rather, they pointed out how many are small but also quite open and simple, leading to chaotic play and not enough spaces to hide behind or think creatively about movement. EA has confirmed Battlefield 6 will be introducing new maps throughout Season 1, and more will certainly be coming in future seasons, so it will be interesting to see if the developers address these issues. But for now, anyone who claims the game's arenas are too small now has the data to back it up.
