PlayStation Plus adds Soulcalibur 3 to its list of available PlayStation Plus classics before the end of 2025, according to information from Bandai Namco Entertainment. Only one title seems to have been confirmed so far for November's list of new PlayStaytion Plus games, though Soulcalibur 3 should arrive by the end of December.
As Namco's sequel to the 1996s Soul Edgethe first one Soulcalibur became one of the most successful arcade games of 1998, giving players a unique 3D fighting game where characters use a variety of melee weapons instead of leading with punches and kicks. After Soulcalibur was ported to the Sega Dreamcast in 1999, its popularity only increased, and it holds the honorable position of being the second best-selling game in the console's short life, just behind Sonic Adventure.
Soulcalibur 3 is coming to PS Plus Premium in 2025
As announced by Bandai Namco via an X post, Soulcalibur 3 will join the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog before the end of 2025. No official release date has yet been revealed, but the game's inclusion in the subscription service will give players access to what is considered by many fans to be one of the best games in Soulcalibur series. With a roster of more than 40 fighters, Soulcalibur 3 features the same style of weapon-based combat as the previous games in the series. But it also stands out from the crowd by adding new game modes like the story-heavy Tales of Souls and the calculating Chronicles of the Sword, a mix of fighting game and real-time strategy where the player directs troops across battlefields to engage in combat.
With new games released every month, the PlayStation Plus subscription service is divided into three tiers – Essential, Extra and Premium – with more games, services and rewards offered to players who subscribe at higher tiers. For North American and European players, the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog adds a retro element to PS Plus Premium, giving players a chance to play many games originally released for the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable on modern hardware. This means that PS Plus subscribers will have to pay for the highest level of the subscription service if they want access Soulcalibur 3s content, but the game will also be available for standalone purchase. Both the PS4 and PS5 consoles will be able to run this version of the Soulcalibur 3.
While many subscribers have already sorted out their PS Plus wishlists for November 2025, it's not clear whether Soulcalibur 3 will join the subscription service in November or December. The official list of games coming to PS Plus next month has not been announced, although a store listing indicates it Tomb Raider: Anniversary coming to PS Plus on November 18th.
