On September 12, 2025 Nintendo Direct started with a number of major announcements to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. franchis, including the disclosure of a whole new Yoshi game, Yoshi and the mysterious bookwhich comes exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 in the spring of 2026. The game will be the latest post in the beloved Yoshi-Spin-Off series, and the audience got a first look at graphics, games and story waiting for Yoshi and the mysterious book.
Similar to previous Yoshi games, Yoshi and the mysterious book Will see the adorable green sidekick take on the lead role and start a colorful adventure. In this latest offer, a curious encyclopedia is called Mr. E to Yoshi Island and needs Yoshi's help to reveal the information held on its pages.

After diving in, Yoshi enters a story book world with illustrated pictures and a new flower friend. This flower can be worn on Yoshi's back and helps to change the environment by growing plants. By continuing the floral theme, a unique new gaming mechanic introduces dandelions that can “absorb” and interact with surrounding objects, such as debilitating stones until they are breaking by Yoshi. While the first official trailer only offers a brief insight into this new mechanics, Nintendo will have more updates coming before the game's launch in the spring of 2026, so interested fans will want to keep you updated.
