A teenager who played video games at home stopped being shot in the process. The crime is actively investigated for motives and the police are looking for a suspect.
Although playing games at home is generally a safe activity, unfortunately there have been rare cases of incidents like these. Some players have shared scary stories about bullets that are pushed into their homes, or even discover bullets that are in walls where they usually spend time, such as at a computer desk. In one case, even a famous streamer went through it. Dr disrespectfully stopped a stream suddenly and returned out of character and revealed that someone had shot at home. Now something similar has happened to a teenager.
Teen gets shot while playing video games
During the very early hours of September 1, a 17-year-old was shot in Philadelphia when he played video games indoors. The teenager enjoyed the night with his friends, although it is not clear if he was the child of the homeowner or was one of the friends hanging. According to NBC, the 17-year-old and his friends had started playing games on Sunday evening and continued far in the morning. About 1:20 on Monday morning, the bullets were fired outside the house, and several apparently came through the window in the home. At least one of these bullets ended by beating the teenager in the back. Paramedics was called, and he was taken to the hospital, where he has since been listed as in stable condition.
Right now it is not clear what – if anything – the motive was for the perpetrator to shoot at the house. NBC indicated that there was another shooting in Philadelphia just a few hours earlier which also seemed to have been aimed at some teenagers, but they were on the street. The police are investigating to determine if there is a link. No further information has been revealed about the injured teenager, probably because he is a minor.
Staying indoors and off the street is usually seen as a good way for young people to avoid being mixed in violent acts. There have been stories in the past by players outside being shot on, and in some cases even die as a result. Unfortunately, in this incident it was not to stay inside to be safe. But thankfully, it seems that the victim will recover from the injury, and no one else was injured in the incident.
