This article contains spoilers for season 3 of A punchman.
If it is one thing that A punchman Series do exceptionally well, these are the characters. Although many have been mostly introduced to jokes or just like side people who are intended to add more depth to the world, they often have incredibly layered back stories that make them some of the most nuanced characters in the entire industry. There is perhaps no better example of this than Garou.
Fans of A punchman Anime remembered the villain introduced in season 2, where he turned out to be one of the most powerful and talented fighting the world had ever seen. But another aspect that was teased was that he was more than just an evil man who was out for world dominance. When the fans were first introduced to Garou, he turned out to be a sadistic and combat -crazed villain who wanted to defeat every hero of the Hero Association. His reasoning for this was eventually annoyed with a short back story, where it was explained that he was always more sympathetic for monsters after they were beaten by the heroes, because he became the subject of relentless bullying.
But in the Monster Association ARC, as season 3 of A punchman Is set to cover, this was expanded, as it was revealed that Garou's real motivation was to become the world's greatest evil by reaching God. Although this is undoubtedly immoral, the reason he wanted to do this to inject fear into the hearts of all violations so that they would not change the weak or commit crimes, which ensures a perfect and peaceful society governed by Garou himself.
My name is Garou. I am the one who will rise to “disaster level God” and straighten this world!
Although this is undoubtedly the wrong way to achieve such an ambitious plan, it expands Garou's character quite a lot. Throughout the Monster Association Arc becomes Garou astronomically stronger with every passing chapter, but is ultimately bound to humanity because of his relationship with Tareo, the same young boy he looked after in season 2. This bow will show Garou's incredible ambitions and his pursuit of these goals, which eventually gives him face to face.
Eventually, at the end of the arch, Garou's emotional plot line comes to its tipping point on him to unlock his strongest shape. Here, much more shade is added to the character, and it gives the perfect opportunity for his rehabilitation and maybe even his integration on the side of the heroes. The way the Monster Association arc ends regarding Garou is good to see and definitely changes the way he is seen in the world.
Garou will also be very different from a strength perspective
The second strongest creature

Garou eventually becomes the second strongest creature in the entire series.
Fans got a hint of Garou's incredible strength during season 2, when he managed to defeat some S-class heroes, but towards the end of the season he fought a lot against some of the strongest in the class, namely Genos and Bang. But the Monster Association Arc is prepared to show that Garou releases its full potential and eventually becomes the strongest character in the series after Saitama himself.
However, this does not happen at once. From the beginning of the arc, Garou polite his innate talent to adapt and copy the techniques for those he goes against, which allows him to fight against some of the strongest heroes and monsters in the world. Through this he gets many new, insanely powerful transformations that catapults his power far above what was previously considered possible by fans, which gradually makes him stronger than every S-class hero and dragon level monster.
In the last struggle for the arc, Garou inadvertently takes some power from the mysterious to be known only as God, which allows him to unlock his cosmic Garou form, making him the biggest threat that the universe has ever looked at that point, exceeds even blasting, number 1-ranked hero throughout Hero Association. At that stage, the only person who could stand up to him was Saitama. The whole condition for the series is that Saitama is so overpower, but for the first time he has to fight a little seriously.
Saitama against Cosmic Garou turns out to be one of the best fights in the history of the mango industry as a whole, with the scale that tips both roads sometimes and both fight harder than they have ever done before. Garou cements not only as the biggest battle in A punchman In the Monster Association arch, but he also turns out to be one of the most layered and complex characters in the series in this bow.
