Following the passage of the UK's online security act past certain users age verification checks introduced by Discord and other websites through the photo-road features in Death. By starting up Death And with a picture of Sam Porter Bridges, the action allowed British users to hide their identities and deceive Discord's age control system.
The UK's security team online went in full power on July 25, which required age checks for access to adult centric content online. Before the law was fully implemented, Discord previously tested its age verification measures in the UK and parts of Europe as early as April 2025. The system, known as K-ID, verifies users via a facial scan or an ID scan and removes images or documents after a user's age has been confirmed. However, the Online Safety Act and associated age verification checks were criticized by users, with certain expressive privacy problems over the data collected by these new requirements.

In view of Discord's claims to not permanently store identifying information, some users have found ways to circumvent the checks required by the Online Security Act. As reported by PC Gamer, Twitter user claimed Dany Sterkhov that DeathPhoto mode can be used to circumvent K-ID and access Discord's age-limited functions and channels as before. By using photo mode to take a picture of the protagonist, Sam Porter Bridges, users can also open and close the SAM's mouth when prompted by the age verification process. With Discord's system that does not store photodata used to verify users, they currently have no way to double -check which ones used SAM's face as a bypass.

While Discord's K-ID process is used only in certain regions, the process has drawn Ire of privacy advocates and critics, who have called the UK's security layer online “draconian” and questioned how secure age-verifying suppliers are. Even if DeathPhoto mode has been used as a bypass for age checks, some users have also used to use VPN as a solution.
By masking their IP address via a VPN, users can then access Discord as a user from the same country where a VPN server is worth, for example the United States. Together with the UK's New Age controller, PC gaming stores Steam and Itch.io also crack down what forms of adult-focused content are allowed.
