Rook's role as the main character in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Rook is presented as a young start-up between 20-40 years. Instead of a fixed background, such as Hawke, Rook has one of six fractions, or backgrounds, the player can choose from to define their backstory and relationship with other characters. For example, a rook that has the mourning guard background will have more to say with Emmrich than a rook with a Lords of Fortune background, although all companions will have a unique dialogue based on all background options.
Although Rook had lots of dialogue and references back to his history, their dialogue was found by some to be limited in tone. While Rook had different “tones” or personality dialogue options, much of their dialogue comes over as Quippy, making them more snoring than the other main characters, even with more bleak dialog choices chosen. The caretaker
One of the biggest differences between Warden and Rook is that Rook is an expressed protagonist. While this helps to make Dragon Age: Veilguard More cinematic and engrossing for some, it limits how far role -playing can go. As a result, some players believe that Warden is more adaptable, with more freedom when it comes to their dialogue options and choices. Like Rook, Warden has different backgrounds or origins to choose from, but the player is allowed to play through Warden's Origin, rather than it is a description card.
The caretaker can be any breed except Qunari, and their origin is tied to the race selected for them. Rook can be any line, and the backgrounds for them are not tied to family or gender.

While rook can be which genus from human, elf, dwarf or qunari, hawke can only be a human being and has the most defined background for someone Dragon age main character. As Rook is Hawke canonically a young adult at the beginning of Dragon Age 2Although Hawke has a canon age of 23 or 24. Hawke uses the same personality dialogue wheels as Rook, but also creates a dominant personality based on the most widely used personality choice for surrounding dialogue or response beyond the player's control.
While Hawke's humorous personality, the nickname “Purple Hawke” of society, is overwhelmingly popular, the choice to have the diplomatic and aggressive dialogue options prevented it from becoming overwhelming, which allows the player to go away from it if they wanted to.
The Inquisitor
The Invisor saw the removal of the personality system introduced in Dragon Age 2which was replaced with a dialog wheel that only specified special options such as dialogue related to background or special knowledge and benefits. Like Rook, the Inquisitor can be a human, elk, dwarf or qunari, although the dwarf and the qunari visitor were criticized for having very little recognition or content, while Rook's spelling is recognized throughout Veilguard.
The Inquisitor sees a more gradual increase in power and collects resources and an army from the ground up with its success throughout the game. This, as opposed to Rook, whose contacts are face to face with each fraction, but the fight against Evanuris is largely invisible outside important moments.
