Overwatch 2 Has received a hotfix update like Nerf's Freja in stadium mode. While many fans demanded this nerf, the new patch still caught some Overwatch 2 Players outside the guard, mainly because of the manner in which it was distributed.
Stadium is a new game mode introduced in Overwatch 2 Season 16, which started at the end of April 2025. It has two five-player teams competing in a best-seven series. Compared to the traditional Overwatch 2 Experience, the new situation allows players to earn stadium cash used to upgrade heroes.

Overwatch 2 releases the Mid season 16 update
Overwatch 2 releases a large mid -season update for Season 16, including a new crossover event, mythical weapons and hero for stadium play.
Freja's cash generation capacity was hit by a significant Nerf on Friday 23 May, when Blizzard rolled out his latest Overwatch 2 Hotfix update. The patch reduces Freja's stadium cash register by 25%, with the change that affects both damage and healing income. The official change that comes with the update characterizes NERF as a conscious effort to reduce Freja's ability to snowball at Stadion. Freha's little Faelde Power – which allows her to fire a bobla shot with Take Aim after using update – has also been removed from Stadium as part of NERF.
Some Overwatch 2 players were hit by Freja Nerf the middle of the game
While a subset of fandom complained that Freja feels overwhelmed in stadium position earlier, Nerf has still caught some Overwatch 2 Player off-guard. That reaction was largely due to how the update was distributed: as a live hotfix without a server start. This led to unexpected situations, for example that little Faelde was disabled in the middle of the match. Such an instance was reported by the Reddit user ABC0W, who recently shared two Replay codes that showed that Nerf met them between the fourth and fifth round of their match. Dozens of fans who responded to their report claimed to have had a similar experience.
Overwatch 2 Make more Freja Stadium changes next week
The recently placed NERF is not the end of Blizzard's efforts to balance Freja in stadium mode. According to the developer's latest PATCH notes, “a targeted set of changes” is planned to be released during the week of May 26. The update will adjust the uptime for Frejas Bola -Building Overwatch 2 Stadium mode and fine tuning of her audience control. Some of her “weaker alternatives” will also buffer, Blizzard said, albeit without sharing any details.
When he reflected on the new changes, Blizzard acknowledged that Freja could feel extremely overwhelmed when she was forward in stadium mode because of her high injuries. While some Overwatch 2 Players welcomed the hotfix on social media, others claimed that Freja should have been completely disabled from Stadium until Blizzard stopped working with his set of balancing changes.
Overwatch 2 Hotfix Balance Update (May 23, 2025) Patch Notes
Stadium mode Changes: Freja
-
Reduced income from injury and healing by 25%.
Developer Comments: Freja is a hero with a very high roof, which can feel particularly powerful at Stadion when it is forward. We lower her financial enhancement of injuries to reduce the consistency and speed at which Freja can snowball at the stadium. We will make a more targeted set of changes next week, including looking at the audience's efficiency and operating time for the Bola building and improving some of her weaker alternatives.
