The group intends to reduce about 3% of its labor, says a company representative. From June 2024, Microsoft employed 228,000 people all over the world, which means that the current cuts can eliminate more than 6,800 roles. In a statement to CNBC, a spokesman for the company estimated that the reduction would affect approximately 6,000 employees. Either way, this will be the group's largest round of layoffs since the beginning of 2023, when Microsoft lowered 10,000 jobs.
