-
Don't expect more prohibitions or unbans for commanders this year.
Magic: The Gathering has announced its first major change in the commander format since Wizards of the Coast took over last year, with the unkind cards that have been requested much of society.
Braids are back
As revealed on the official MTG website, five cards have been unjustified in commanders with immediate effect. However, they have been immediately placed on the list of the game exchange list, with cards such as Tergrid, suffocating tenth and ancient grave which are intended for the most powerful tires:
-
Braids, cabal minion
-
Gifts that are unpleasant
-
Star's turn
-
Coalition victory
-
Panoptic mirror
With the Commander Bracket system that was introduced last year, all these cards are considered to be acceptable in higher console tires. For example, coalition victory requires eight mana and your commander to win, while gifts are effectively effective is either a combination piece in high -powered tires, or a fun alternative to facts or fiction elsewhere.
Especially braids are an interesting oban, as it has been banned in the commander since 2009.
Of course, three cards that many expected would be unannounced are last year's Mana Crypt, Juveled Lotus and Dockside Extortionist. When we discussed the possibility of a unban for one of these, Verhey said that “we talked about these cards and are not unjustified right now”, and that “the book is closed on these three cards”.
Don't expect Golos back soon
As previously announced, no new cards were banned. It was also confirmed that no cards will be banned in at least the rest of 2025, carried all situations of the NADU type where a card becomes “generally dismissed” and requires a ban.
In September last year, Wizards of the Coast announced that it took control of the-poor fan-managed commander format. Although it created a new commander format panel to discuss prohibition and guide the format as it had been before, Wizards ultimately has the last word about cards that my darling Merfolk -Man Hullbreacher should be uninhabited.
