Status problems in MH Wilds Offer some very useful effects, and a skill as critical status can potentially get Hunts to go much faster. In this short guide, we will briefly go through how critical status works to help you find out if it is worth using other skills.

What is critical status in MH Wilds?
Critical status makes your weapons cause status problems faster when you get a critical hit. It goes hand in hand with the affinity state, and in a way it works in the same way as element damage does in MH Wilds.
To understand how critical status works, players must know how status problems are applied. Imagine it like this: Every monster in the game has a hidden bar for each type of status problem, and when that bar is filled, the disease will trigger.
For example, if a hit from your weapon affects 10 paralysis, and a monster hidden paralysis can only take 100 points paralysis, you will be paralyzed that monster in 10 hits. If you have critical status, you apply more paralysis points when you critically hit, which means you can add paralysis in smaller hits.
Critical status does not Increase a status problem or effect intensity. This means that you only apply it faster, which is useful when you consider that monsters gradually become more resistant to status problems after they suffer one.
Should you use critical status?
Critical status is just worth using If it is already part of your weapon as an innate skill (as with
Lala harpactirs
). This is due to some causes:
-
Only 1/3 of the attacks contribute to the status problems, with the exception of bowguns that use disease ammunition, which contributes to the structure 100% of the time.
-
In practice, critical status results in about one or two extra diseases during a hunt, although this is due to your target monitor's weakness for the disease you are using. At that point, the monster should already be near death anyway.
If you have a Crit State 3 Jewel, it may be worth using if it comes with a useful secondary skills such as crafts, iron wall or cow. Nevertheless, it is not something that should prioritize other skills that have a much stronger impact on a building.
