Magic: The Gathering's upcoming Final Fantasy universe In addition to the crossover set, players are expected to be warm by players before it was released in June. Final Fantasy is not only a popular series, but the collaboration will also be the first universe ever exposed to being legal in standard format. The decision to move the universe in addition to the more relaxed formats that Commander to standard games remain controversial.

“I don't think it's ever an end to any partnership,” SHEPARD says. “Although the product is ready and we do not press it anymore because the term of the agreement expires, we still remain in touch. As much as all other partnerships, we can visit it as if we visit our own worlds. I do not confirm that something is in work here, but it is probably a question about when not again.”

With 16 main games and countless spin-offs, Final Fantasy remains mature for adaptation if magicians ever want to print more crossover cards. Square Enix also owns much more intangible property, albeit less popular than final fantasy. There is really crossover potential with franchises such as Kingdom Hearts, Mana and Saga.

The interview is also that Wizards has worked with Square Enix on the upcoming Final Fantasy set for over four years: “It takes so much time and conversation,” explains Shepard. “From the first disclosure we recently did, to the set and then to all plans after launch as repression and everything else. The universe beyond partnership can be five, six, sometimes seven -year relationships depending on the pipeline.”
