How do the mobile and PC versions of Stardew Valley differ?

Stardew Valley is one of the ultimate comfort games. Spend day after day (in the game and in reality) tending to your crops and animals, killing mucus in the caves and fishing. It has given good feelings and cheers since it debuted at PC 2016 and has since spread to other platforms.

There is even a mobile version for phones, iPads and tablets. Having Stardew Valley available anywhere can be somewhat harmful to your productivity, but it is a risk worth taking, as long as you are aware of the minor differences between mobile and PC.

Co-op availability

Stardew Valley is not a big multiplayer game, but there are many people who enjoy sharing the experience with other people. However, you will not share it on Mobile-Co-op is not supported.

There is demand, but the creator, Concquedape, says there are “technical obstacles” that prevent co-op. Concernedape, alias Eric Barone, is very susceptible to fans and usually tries to meet reasonable requests. Mobile co-op, even though it is warmly requested, does not seem to be on the table.

Modding availability

Stardew Valley has one of the most active courageous communities at Nexusmods. There are mods that add animals, change buildings, add fashion options, add NPCs, add brand new cities – if you can think about there is probably a courage for it. But you will not get all this on mobile.

While Modding is possible on Android units, the alternatives are limited, as not all Modder creates mobile versions of their mods. And if you are on Apple units, there are no modding options at all. If you are a fan of Vanilla Stardew, no nice watches or whistles, mobile is good, but if you want to change it, maybe take the game to PC.

Transfer of rescues

If you are tired of playing on your mobile or just want a new experience, you can transfer your mobile save to PC. But when you do, there are no back – PC updates tend to be ahead of your mobile, and there is no backward compatibility. However, if they are on the same version, you can move files freely.

It is a good option to keep your pocket if you need to get your Save file from the phone, or if you just want to experience the wonders in Stardew Valley on a larger screen or change things a bit with mods.

Control

Stardew Valley was originally a PC game that was later portrayed to consoles and mobile, and sometimes it is obvious in the controls, but for the most part the game works well with controls. Mobile devices such as tablets and phones, on the other hand, use the touch screen – touch the location you want to go to and watch your Sprite walk.

However, you have to be exact, or you can get cozy with Pierre when you go to buy seeds. There are also autocombat, where the sword will turn automatically in the enemy range. You also have the opportunity to get a Bluetooth control unit for your mobile device, if you really want one. Touch screens can be Finnicky sometimes, and it is always practical to have a control unit.

Portability

The great thing about phones is that you have the world – and your farm – in your pocket. Play it while you wait for the doctor, on the bus, during class – no, don't play it during class. But play it at another time, when you have a minute to kill, and you just want to escape the world.

Pelican Town is always waiting for you. It is always waiting for you on your computer as well, but you have to wait until you are back on your computer to visit. You don't even need the internet when the game has been downloaded. Just open the app and go.

Autosave -Accessibility

Playing Stardew Valley requires some time management on the computer and consoles. If you commit to play another day, you must play through that day before you can save again. On mobile, however, you can replace the window at any time, and it will automatically save.

This is probably due to the nature of mobile games, where you constantly replace and out of the windows to check other things or get phone calls or messages. No matter what interruptions happen, your mobile farm will always be safe. PC and console players just have to settle for their savings once a day.

Auto-attacks

The fight is simple in Stardew Valley; Press a button to swing your weapon you choose. On mobile it is somehow easier! If you play from the phone's comfort, you can automatically attack with the main attack of your weapon.

While the attack works in the same way as the attacks on the console, allowing you to give your screen a break so that you do not constantly press it to kill a mucus or ghost.

In addition to auto attack, you can automatically lower your tools. This means that you do not need to find the right tool in your warehouse and choose it. Instead, you can easily approach the item you want to interact with and immediately start using the associated tool.

This feature is quite nice, so if you switch to playing on a console you can stop missing it. Thankfully, there are some quality of life out there that can automatically change tools if you play on PC.

Zoom on mobile

Another major function in the mobile version is the ability to squeeze and zoom. By simply squeezing your fingers, the map will zoom in and out. This lets you get close and personal with your farm, or zoom out to see the bigger picture.

With the Zoom function, you must also do less knock to move. Zoom out, tap a far away place and see your little farmer run over the map in no time!

Update schedule

Mobile Stardew Valley tends to be a little behind updates. PC is Periscuedape's main focus, with everything else that comes in second place. For example, 1.5.6 was released in December 2021 and mobile updates came later in January 2023.

It's not really a bad thing, especially if the updates are smaller. If you play exclusively on mobile and something new drops you will be a bit behind the PC players, but good things are worth waiting. And Stardew Valley is always good.

There are two mobile versions

Unlike the console version of Stardew Valley, there are actually two mobile versions out there. You can only buy the game at a fixed price, or you can play it on Apple Arcade. Instead of just buying it, you have to subscribe to Apple Arcade, which has a monthly subscription.

There is no real game difference between these two versions, but if you happen to play Apple Arcade you can seamlessly resume your game over Apple devices. For example, you can play on your iPhone and then switch to your iPad and resume the same game.
