With over a thousand anime episodes and manga chapters, One Piece inevitably includes things that don't quite make sense. When a story takes this long, some inconsistencies and confusing details will slip through. After all, remembering and keeping track of every little detail of a long-running shonen series is no easy task, even for a genius mangaka like Eiichiro Oda.
7 things One Piece does better than Naruto
Years later, One Piece is still superior to Naruto when it comes to these things.
One Piece could be a masterpiece, but it's not a perfect series. Luffy's story comes with flaws, such as plot holes, moments that just don't add up, and things that never made sense. Let's take a closer look at these things and try to understand them.
Lack of bounty hunters
One Piece is full of pirates with big bounties on their heads. Luffy currently has 3 billion berries, while most of his crew have bounties in the thousands and millions. Most of the famous pirates in the series also receive hefty rewards, from Luffy's allies and enemies to the other emperors of the sea.
Noticeably, despite these incredible gifts, One Piece rarely have bounty hunters, making it seem like Eiichiro Oda is deliberately ignoring their existence. Perhaps the only known bounty hunters the series introduced so far were Zoro's former partners, Johnny and Yosaku from East Blue and the Franky Family from Water 7. Since then, no other bounty hunters have appeared in the series, implying that it is impossible for them to capture these pirates.
Pell's survival in the Alubarna
Looking back, Pell made a heroic sacrifice in the Alubarna to protect the Alabasta Kingdom by soaring through the sky with a massive cannon bomb about to explode in his claws. With no time left, the bomb eventually exploded, leaving fans teary-eyed at Pell's tragic but heroic fate.
However, Pell miraculously survived the explosion without any proper explanation. While the Alabasta Kingdom mourned his death, even giving him a funeral, his sudden appearance was later questioned by many fans. His survival came as a last-minute change on Eiichiro Oda's part, ultimately weakening the impact of Pell's heroics in the final moments of the Alabasta arc.

Miss Goldenweek's abilities
Within Baroque Works, there was a young assassin who went by the alias Miss Goldenweek. She teamed up with Mr. 3 in the Little Garden arc, where she played with the personalities and emotions of the Straw Hat Pirates, especially Luffy. While her special color was mesmerizing, her abilities didn't quite make sense.
After all, Miss Goldenweek doesn't even have a devil fruit, but she could manipulate colors to evoke emotions and trigger complex effects. Although the series reveals her as a hypnotist, the mechanics behind her special ability remain vague, leaving many fans to question how her special color can have such varied effects.
Chopper's pet status
Tony Tony Chopper has been adventuring with the Straw Hat Pirates for quite some time now, but his status as a pet for the pirate crew remains unchanged. The World Government and the general public still consider Chopper to be a less harmful member of Luffy's crew, simply because he looks like a harmless reindeer.
The problem is that Chopper has proven time and time again that he is much more than just a cute mascot. Whenever he consumes a Rumble Ball, he becomes a capable fighter with multiple transformations at his disposal. Unfortunately, even after defeating powerful enemies One Piecethe authorities fail to recognize him as a real threat. Although his reward has increased, the amount compared to other members of the Straw Hat Pirates is still laughably low.
Don Krieg's Grand Line Exit
It is difficult to enter the Grand Line, as most ships often fail to sail through the Reverse Mountain. As shown in the anime and manga, the Straw Hats saw some of the wrecked ships that had attempted the passage before them. While most fans know this important information, leaving or leaving the Grand Line has never been shown or talked about in much detail.
Because of this, Don Krieg's experience has become even more exciting. After all, Don Krieg and his remaining crew returned to East Blue from the Grand Line after Mihawk Dracule decimated much of his fleet.
Their return was an exceptional event, as getting out of the Grand Line without a sea-stone encrusted ship and with the Sea Kings lurking in the calm belt seems like an impossible feat, but Don Krieg somehow survived it all and made it back to East Blue intact.
Sanji points a gun at Robin
One of the earliest inconsistencies in Sanji's character is his hostile reaction to Nico Robin when she first appeared before the Straw Hat Pirates on their way to the Little Garden. When Robin appeared, Sanji quickly reacted with obvious aggression and pointed a gun at her face without hesitation, much to the fans' surprise.
This is Sanji who is introduced in the series as a man who avoids violence against women at all costs. But his hostile behavior towards Robin clearly rejects that core aspect of his character. Even if it's a one-off, it still stands out as an early inconsistency in his characterization.
Portgas D. Rouge postpones Ace's birth
The Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, had an intimate relationship with Portgas D. Rouge, which resulted in the birth of their son, Portgas D. Ace. Although well known to fans, the circumstances surrounding Rogue's pregnancy were far from ordinary.
Driven solely by determination, Rouge delays the delivery to protect Ace at all costs. It's inspiring, but for an ordinary woman with no special abilities, Rouge shouldn't have been able to wait to give birth for such a long period. In fact, she carried Ace in her womb for 20 months, well beyond the natural limits of human pregnancy.
Milk Restored Luffy's Broken Tooth and Brook's Cracked Skull
One of the funniest things that doesn't make sense in One Piece happened when Luffy and Brook drank milk together. The milk is just your regular carton milk, but it worked wonders for these two characters.
When Luffy drank the milk, Luffy restored his tooth to its original state, while Brook's cracked skull was also instantly healed. It's almost as if it's magic at work, with fans hypothesizing that the milk contains high amounts of calcium that somehow accelerates Luffy and Brook's regeneration.
