Before the modern age of wizardry, there were many powerful wizards in the world JJK. These include wizards who existed during the Heian era and eras that came after. Fans have seen a lot of exciting wizards take center stage JJK over the years, and quite a few of them have actually been brought back in the Culling Game Arc.

Here, fans got a proper look at what they could do, and it's safe to say that those who were around a long time ago had some scary powers up their sleeves. With a plethora of individuals to choose from, only a few can stand out as the very best of the ancient wizards in JJK.

Ryu Ishigori

Rio Ishigori is a very powerful individual which fans saw quite a bit in the Culling Game Arc. At some point, he made a contract with Kenjaku that allowed him to be resurrected in modern times. Ryu Ishigori had immense powers and fans could see it when he fought the likes of Yuta Okkotsu. But against Sukuna, he couldn't stand it. Still, he was an impressive individual and his cursed energy output was truly magnificent, to say the least.

She was one of the strongest individuals back then, and her cursed technique Sky manipulation made sure she caused trouble for anyone who stood in her way. Other than that, she was also a ridiculously powerful user of cursed energy, in general. Her cursed energy output was absolutely sensational, and on top of that, she could use advanced techniques, such as Domain Expansion as well. Although her domain expansion remains unknown at this point, fans know she had this skill.

Angel

Angel may not be physically the strongest, but fans know for sure that she is a user of one of the strongest techniques in JJK. Essentially, Angel has the ability to extinguish any technique using his innate ability Technique Extinguishment. With Jacob's Ladder, she could even kill Sukuna, if she hadn't fallen for Sukuna's trap, that is.

Jacob's ladder is the pinnacle of her powers, and it can essentially purify anyone with massive amounts of cursed energy.

Uraume

Uraume is a character that fans have seen quite a bit in JJK. They possess the cursed technique of Ice Formationand they can certainly use it at a very high level. Their true strength is not known. But fans know for sure that they can at least hold their own against some of the most talented individuals of the modern era, like Hakari.

The Uraume are extremely talented, and considering they've been by Sukuna's side for quite some time, it can be concluded that they possess immense strength, the vast majority of which is probably not even seen.

Kashimo

Kashimo, also known as the God of Lightningexisted 400 years ago, and then he established himself as one of the strongest of all time. Kashimo possesses electrifying cursed energywhose reserves are incredibly high.

He is also a user of the Mythical Beast Amber Technique, which allows him to manifest any phenomenon produced by electricity. Against a weakened Sukuna, he showed that he was indeed very strong and dominated. But when Sukuna took his reincarnated form, he was done within seconds.

Yorozu

Fans know Yorozu to be a powerful individual from the Heian eraand she played a key role in the Culling Game Arc. She was seen reincarnating in Tsumiki's body in this arc, and then fans got a proper glimpse of her skills. Yorozu who had the innate construction technique and fans may remember that Mai had the same ability. In Yorozu's case, however, she had trained this ability to the utmost and this allowed her to wield her strength at a very high level.

She had also advanced her control over her techniques so much that she could even manifest a domain expansion. She ended up fighting Sukuna and could have even beaten him at the time.

Kenjaku

Kenjaku is one of the most despicable sorcerers as fans have seen JJK. Using the power of his body jumping technique, he has taken control of several individuals and gained their abilities over the years. The most significant body he has controlled in the series is Suguru Geto.

This is the body in which he was seen playing the role of a major antagonist, and he certainly claimed great control over all of Geto's techniques. It is clear for fans to see that he is one of the strongest wizards to come from a pre-modern era.

Ryomen Sukuna

Of course, of all the wizards that existed long before modern times, Sukuna stands tall as the strongest. Born in the Heian era, Sukuna certainly lives up to his reputation as the strongest. Sukuna's strength is absolutely immense, and his control over cursed energy is magnificent.

In every single aspect of cursed energy manipulation, Sukuna excels like no other. The only individual who can match him is Gojo Satoruand besides him, Sukuna is truly peerless.
