Stream in Demon Slayer has always been portrayed as something that is gained with practice, well, with the sole exception of a few. This power gap between characters becomes even more apparent during the Infinity Castle arc. Characters that were once only shown in small glimpses and hyped for years finally get to step into the spotlight and show off their true forms, and there are others, despite the colossal hype, who are only just beginning to show their potential. This list is limited to the strength of the screen displayed in Infinity Castle part 1.
Various Hashira, such as Sanemi Shinazugawa, Obanai Iguro, and Mitsuri Kanroji, are firmly established as incredibly strong and probably stronger than many of the heroes at this time. Nevertheless, the arc is not yet ready to show the extent of their abilities, so they cannot be considered surpassed by the characters who have already achieved undeniable results. Similarly, characters like Sanemi and Kokushibo are notoriously known for being terrifyingly powerful, but the Infinity Castle arc has barely explored the full potential of the two. With that in mind, these rankings are what has been shown rather than what is promised.
The strongest demons in Demon Slayer
There are several powerful demons in the Demon Slayer anime. These characters are the most dangerous.
8
Zenitsu Agatsuma
Zenitsu's character development can be considered the epitome of how the show develops characters through hardship. The Infinity Castle arc finally gets rid of the version of itself that has to be supported by fear or subconscious instinct. His presence is more thunderous, more concentrated and far more deadly than ever. The arc portrays him as a person who no longer hesitates when necessary, most of all with shocking confidence.
What is impressive about Zenitsu here is not being dominant, but rather being precise and decisive, as he only has one goal and that was to defeat Kaigaku. The way he carries himself is a sign of control, clarity and calm never experienced before. Although a number of Hashira clearly surpass him in sheer fighting prowess, Zenitsu's growth in the film shows that he is no longer a liability or a temporary loose cannon. He earns this position by proving himself to be a true fighter in the toughest situations the show has ever brought.
7
Tanjiro Kamado
The power Tanjiro possesses in the Infinity Castle arc is evident as soon as fans see his first fight with Akaza, even the demon who called him weak and worthless was surprised by his strength and how much Tanjiro had grown since they last met. His actions, responses and decision-making are instinctive, as if fighting has become second nature. The movie portrays him as someone who could keep up with situations when the majority of fighters couldn't even react, even without controlling the battlefield directly.
Still, Tanjiro is clearly not ready to be on the same level as many of Hashira, maybe even above, as he is the only one alive in the series so far to have unlocked the transparent world. While characters like Obanai or Mitsuri remain much more sophisticated and menacing in general, they have yet to show their true potential. His position indicates that he is a strong fighter right now, although his true ceiling may be much higher.
6
Muichiro Tokito
We barely saw Muichiro in action in the movie, but his exploits have already been shown in the series so far. The only Hashira to defeat an Upper Moon all by himself is as high a praise as any demon slayer can receive, the whole reason why he is considered a prodigy within the Hashira. Fans can see his calm and collective fighting style once again as he teams up with his master Gyomei and quickly cuts through any demons unfortunate enough to cross their paths.
Most interesting is the natural way in which Muichiro manages to deal with threats that are very frightening. He never feels threatened or outwitted, even in a time of danger. Although his screen time is still too low for how many fans love him and want to see more of him, the demonstrations prove that he is stronger than the majority of Demon Slayers who are older and more experienced.
5
Giyu Tomioka
You can safely say that the whole essence of Demon Slayer Infinity Castle part 1 is centered around Giyu, the star of the show. Fans already knew Giyu was strong, but this strong? His gestures are correct, disciplined and without waste, and this is an indication of years of experience at the top. Giyu already fought Akaza toe-to-toe, although Akaza initially didn't take the fight seriously, but once Giyu knew the stakes of the fight and unlocked his demon slayer mark, the only weakness Giyu had was being human.
Survivability and consistency are used as signs of the power of Giyu as opposed to flashier fighters. He stands on his feet when everyone else drops; his defensive breathing style is completely correct for his composure. Although he is not considered the most powerful Hashira, his appearance puts him in a comfortable position between the rising prodigies like Tanjiro and Muichiro and makes him a solid member of the elite.
Demon Slayer: Every Known Member Of The Twelve Kizuki, ranked by their Blood Demon Arts
Demon Slayer's Twelve Kizuki are incredibly powerful enemies, and their Blood Demon Arts play a big part in that. This is how their abilities rank.
4
Judgment — Upper Rank Two
Although he is ranked at Upper Moon Two, the Infinity Castle arc has not brought out the full power in him yet. However, what is shown is very menacing and creepy, and his backstory only adds to it, as fans learn that Doma didn't become a demon to save himself but to save others by devouring them, talk about being twisted to the core. The very feeling of his presence is suffocating, and his behavior suggests a degree of control and meanness that goes far beyond brute force.
The hint in the arc is very much about the reason why Doma rose through the ranks so quickly. His picky eating habits and twisted mind are the signs of huge untapped potential. Still, with the performances only presented so far, Doma hasn't proven to be on par with his higher-ranked counterparts.
3
Akaza — Upper Rank Three
The power of Akaza in the Infinity Castle arc is abundant and brutally obvious. Every move has a purpose, and every confrontation solidifies his position as one of the most menacing creatures in the entire series. The power of Akaza is real and subject to continuous testing unlike that of others which has no limits.
What elevates Akaza is the degree to which he goes to the point of convincing elite opponents. His tenacity, flexibility and unwillingness to give up on fights that seem insurmountable. The arc introduces him as a demon whose power has been perfected in the endless struggle and disappointment of not being able to protect his loved ones, causing him to grow stronger and stronger, which is why he is ranked so high, even among monsters.
Demon Slayer: Each member of Hashira, ranked in terms of strength
Hashira is humanity's last line of defense against demons. Here's how each of them ranks based on their strength.
2
Gyomei Himejima
Gyomei's role in the Infinity Castle arc can only be described as awe-inspiring. Each of these appearances reinforces the idea that he lives on a different level than most Hashira. His actions are not easy; his punches seem to be devastating, and his composure is never lost, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. With only one actual scene so far against Muzan, fans can already say that he is the strongest Hashira alive at this point.
His brave toe-to-toe battle with Muzan, even though Muzan was weakened, is a feat to be able to survive and play a significant role in such a fight, something no other Hashira can do at the same level. His position in the ranking of Gyomei indicates strength and not reputation; the strongest human fighter of the current generation.
1
Muzan Kibutsuji
Even when he doesn't fully display even a fraction of his strength, Muzan has been the undisputed pinnacle of power. The Infinity Castle arc portrays him as the big bad villain who can control the battlefield through his looks alone. Every interaction confirms the notion that beating him with power is not enough, but sacrifices must be made on a scale impossible to contemplate.
The scary aspect of Muzan is that very little has been revealed compared to the potential implied. He also leads the fight, pushing the most powerful demon slayers to their extremes even in his weakened state. Until his full strength can be shown, Muzan is at the top not because of hype, but because there are no other competitors in the same field that can even match what has already been shown.
