Sony has made a good effort to remaster some of its best games from the PS3 generation, including The last of us and that Uncharted franchise. There are also plenty of third-party examples, like the various ports The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim have received.

Kill zone 2 became an infamous game during the PS3 era thanks to a trailer that no one thought could run on the hardware. It turned out to be a mix of truth and lies as the game didn't look quite as good as the trailers, but it was still an impressive shooter. The rifle game was much heavier than many shooters at the time, but this weight continued to aim a little better than most.
The most iconic of Kill zone franchise are enemy Helghast soldiers who wore masks with glowing orange eyes, and seeing those eyes in higher definition would be unsettling but worth it. After PS4, Guerrilla Games went on to create the Horizon series, but it would be great to see the original trilogy remastered on PS5, as the platform lacks many exclusive first-person shooters.
Resistance 2
An invasion of the Midwest

M for mature 17+ // Blood and Gore, Intent Violence, Strong Language
The Resistance franchise is another great example of an exclusive first-person shooter series that premiered on the PS3. It would be exciting to play the entire trilogy again in a remastered collection, but if fans had to pick one to remaster it would be Resistance 2. This sequel moved the war effort from Europe to the American Midwest, where the alien Chimera successfully invaded.
Fighting aliens in the backyards of homes created an eerie familiarity for the shooter series. Also, there were some iconic moments where the sense of scale was done incredibly well, like fighting a kaiju-sized Chimera on top of rooftops. Insomniac Games does a great job with Marvel properties, but they shouldn't forget Resistance either.
Get closer to Pixar
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is another game from Insomniac Games, and this was the first Ratchet & Clank games, of many, for the PS3. It wasn't dramatically different from its PS2 counterparts, but the visuals were a big improvement, and the lack of major innovations was actually comforting.
The 10 most perfect PlayStation games of all time
There's a PlayStation kid in all of us with these absolutely flawless titles. Let's take a walk down the PS Hall of Fame.
Fans got to experience better platforming in larger worlds, and the weaponry was more sophisticated, allowing Insomniac Games to experiment more with particle effects. There were a total of six originals Ratchet & Clank games on PS3, not counting the remastered PS2 collection, so Sony has a lot of choices on what to remaster.
Little Big Planet 2
A creative platformer
Little Big Planet 2 was a big step up from the previous game, expanding the toolset for players to create their own content, and going beyond 2D platforming levels. Players could create other mini-games like racing or even role-playing, plus the co-op crossovers were wild, from DC superhero costumes to Final Fantasy 7 costumes.
The creative tools were great, but the core campaign was also inventive and full of whimsy. With four-player co-op and an abundance of costumes, each player could present their own style, and it would be great for Sony to revisit this franchise, which was so huge during the PS3 era.
infamous 2
Down in the Bayou
infamous 2 took place in a fake New Orleans-inspired area called New Marais. The game still starred Cole MacGrath, who gained electrical powers in the first game. This original superhero game from Sucker Punch increased the amount of powers, improved melee attacks and just made movement better overall.
Not many games are set in the bayou either, making it a more attractive setting than the full city environment of the original. Get both notorious game, along with the standalone vampire game from infamous 2, inFAMOUS: Festival of Bloodwould be a treat on PS5.
Dead Space 2
Eye trauma
Dead Space 2 is one of many third-party titles that would also be great to see remastered. Currently, Xbox owners can play it via backwards compatibility, and the game is also available on Steam, but there is no easy way for PS5 owners to purchase the game and play it natively.
10 Obvious Spoilers PlayStation Fans Missed at the Beginning of RPGs
Are you a super sleuth who caught these hints early on in these classic RPG games?
When the first game was remade in 2023, there was hope for it Dead Space 2 was also going to be remade, but after it didn't sell as well as EA had hoped, it now looks like Dead Space has retired as a franchise. It's a shame because this sequel is a top-notch horror game with wild enemies, cool weapons, and inventive ways that use space as a concept.
Split/Second
Racing in the movies
Split/Second is one of the coolest racing games ever made, which was like racing on a movie set. As players race, they can trigger effects in the background to change the environment and distract other racers, such as blowing up a building.
Throwing Koopa Shells at players might not be as much fun as in one Mario Kart the game, but the explosive set pieces were fascinating and helped Split/Second apart from other racing games at the time. As Dead Space 2Xbox and Steam players can purchase and download this game easily, so PS5 owners should get that option as well.
Prince of Persia (2008)
Ubisoft's Nathan Drake
Prince of Persia was a reboot in 2008, as it was a more linear adventure that was also quite easy, as it was difficult to die during platforming. The game also got a new cel-shaded look, and Prince was voiced by Nolan North, so there was definitely one Uncharted feel for the game that PS3 fans appreciated at the time.
The game can be played on Xbox consoles, but only with a disc, while Steam users have full access to Prince of Persia compared to both PlayStation and Xbox consoles. With a remaster, maybe Sony can get the upper hand for once.
