7 strongest transformations introduced in Super

Dragon Ball has a reputation for constantly raising the stakes and introducing transformation after transformation to the point that some fans may feel it's a bit redundant. While we got a lot of this in Z, Super managed to completely surpass its predecessor.

Super introduced tons of different transformations over the years, and there are probably more to come with the manga hopefully returning soon. Each new transformation the series revealed surpassed the last, and while they're all incredibly strong compared to what we saw in the original series, there are a handful that really stand out.

Kid Vegeta, SSJ Bardock and Kid Goku

Dragon Ball: 9 Strongest Saiyans Who Survived Planet Vegeta's Destruction, Ranked

The Saiyans who survived Planet Vegeta range wildly in Power Level, including some true weaklings and the strongest fighters in all of Dragon Ball.

Blue evolved

The Tournament of Power brought out the best in nearly everyone on the Universe 7 team, forcing them to push their limits and overcome intense multiverse competition. While Goku, Frieza and Andfroid 17 got much of the spotlight towards the end of the tournament, Vegeta had his fair share of big moments as well.

Blue Evolved is a step up from regular Super Saiyan Blue, allowing Vegeta to break his limits and gain a massive power boost similar to Goku's Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken. The increase in strength doesn't come at the expense of speed or agility, nor does it lose much stamina, making it an effective and reliable transformation that Vegeta would rely on until he would unlock Ultra Ego later in the series.

Orange Piccolo

After spending years on the sidelines playing more of a supporting role, Piccolo finally received the massive power boost he desperately needed. With his orange form, Piccolo is now one of the strongest mortal fighters in Universe 7 and can potentially match some of the more powerful foes the series throws at its protagonist.

Piccolo's new power-up gave him the ability to stand up to Cell Max, though Piccolo still struggled in his new form. Despite the power surge, it wasn't until Gohan had pushed himself past his own limits that the Bio-Android was pushed back. Still, Orange Piccolo was strong enough to hold off Cell Max, so the power boost he gets in this form is significant enough that it should allow him to at least be competitive against all the incredibly powerful new villains introduced in the manga once it returns.

Legendary Super Saiyan

The standard Super Saiyan transformation was powercrept out of relevance years ago, but Broly's unique take on the iconic power-up is different. Broly's legendary Super Saiyan transformation put him on par with Super Saiyan Blue when he was introduced, and even allowed him to fight Golden Frieza for an extended period of time without breaking a sweat.

Broly's first legendary Super Saiyan transformation is introduced as a powerful yet difficult-to-control state that causes Broly to act on his fighting instincts above all else. However, once Cell Max is defeated and Gohan achieves his Beast form, Broly manages to reach a controlled state in his Super Saiyan form. We see that Broly is much more thoughtful in how he approaches combat here, although he still has a long way to go.

Ultra Ego

Ultra Ego is currently Vegeta's strongest transformation, having replaced Blue Evolved as his go-to in battles against powerful opponents. With Vegeta harnessing the power wielded by the Destroyer Gods with this one, it's hard to imagine he'll find anything stronger anytime soon.

The biggest thing that separates Ultra Ego from something like Ultra Instinct is how it feeds into Vegeta's fighting spirit, allowing him to take damage and redirect it into powerful attacks. Since the form requires Vegeta to take a lot of damage to be effective, it requires a lot of limitations on Vegeta's end to ensure he doesn't take any unnecessary hits when in the heat of battle. Even with this drawback, Ultra Ego has proven to be one of the strongest transformations in the series to date.

Perfected Ultra Instinct

One of the strongest transformations introduced in SuperPerfected Ultra Instinct has shown fans what Goku can really do after years and years of training and improving his skills. What really makes the transformation stand out isn't the incredible power boost it gives the user (though it's significant), but instead it's Ultra Instinct's amazing evasion capabilities that have it as one of the hardest transformations to deal with.

That doesn't mean the transformation doesn't come with its drawbacks. It was by far the most difficult transformation for Goku to master, and it can be incredibly taxing on the user, draining a lot of stamina and making prolonged conflicts difficult. Goklu can still improve his control of Ultra Instinct, so we can expect him to become more comfortable with it and be even more effective than he has been when the series returns.

Black Frieza

Fans have been holding their breath for Super manga to return to for what feels like forever. A big reason why the series' return is so anticipated has to do with the massive cliffhanger that was the reveal of Frieza's new form; Black Frieza.

We don't know much about Frieza's new power-up, but what we do know about it makes it one of the scariest villain forms the series has ever released. Frieza surpassed his golden form by training in a hyperbolic time chamber different from the one on Earth. By doing so, he became exponentially more powerful and was able to take out a knocked down Gas with ease while taking down UI Goku and UE Vegeta in one hit. We can be sure that Frieza will play a big role in the manga once it returns.

Beast

There is much debate as to who currently stands as the strongest mortal fighter in the Dragon Ball Super right now. While Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Piccolo and Frieza are all strong, Gohan's new Beast transformation could make him the strongest in the universe.

It will be interesting to see how the manga approaches things after Granolah, as Gohan getting his Beast transformation might not line up with a potential match-up with Black Frieza in the series timeline. If we could see Gohan Beast and Black Frieza come into battle, it would be a huge match-up, and one that some believe Gohan could win. As it stands, it looks like Gohan is once again one of the strongest in the universe, but who knows how long that will last.
