Since they are only weak to Ground-types, many trainers have been known to have at least one Electric-type on their team. The Electric-type is known for having many fast Pokémon in its roster, with prominent members including Luxray and Boltund as just a few examples. At the same time, this type is also closely related to thunderstorms, where some are even the cause of such natural phenomena.
Like many other types, the Electric type debuted in the Kanto region. Many of these Pokémon are still much loved today, from the sturdy Magneton to the energetic Raichu. Of course, compared to many of its peers, the Mouse Pokémon Pikachu will likely remain the most popular Kantonian Electric type.
The electrode is well known for using explosion
Even the slightest change can cause the electrode to burn
In it Pokémon world, there are many random items scattered in buildings and the tall grass. A lone Poké Ball is one such item, but a wise trainer knows to watch out before approaching it. After all, the lone Poké Ball might actually be a wild Voltorb, ready to use the devastating move Explosion. Even worse, it might not be a Voltorb at all, but its evolved form Electrode, which is known to produce even bigger explosions.
Electrode is a powerful Pokémon, but it is one that a trainer must work with very carefully, as even the slightest bump can cause the Ball Pokémon to suddenly explode. In the wild, electrodes have been known to live in hordes and must be handled quickly and with great care. However, many trainers have been known to work with these electric Pokémon with great success. Besides Danny from Navel Gym, Vermilion City Gym's replacement gym leader, Visquez, owns an electrode that could even knock out Ash's powerful Gengar.
Electabuzz is always looking for electricity to eat
Some power plants blame Electabuzz for blackouts
Electabuzz, the electric Pokémon, is popular with trainers but is believed to be a nuisance to those who work at power plants. This is because Electabuzz can actually eat electricity; it's actually the Electric type's favorite food. Although not always the case, whenever a power outage occurs in a city, the cause is likely to result in a horde of Electabuzz eating the electricity at a nearby power plant. As such, some powerhouses will have Ground-type Pokémon acting as guards to keep any wild Electabuzz at bay.
Many Pokémon trainers around the world have been known to use an Electabuzz, as well as its pre-evolution Elekid, or its evolved form Electivire. In addition to the failed gym leader Kaz, a trainer with a better reputation who also uses an Electabuzz, is Rudy. The gym leader of Trovita Gym, Rudy uses several different Pokémon types, with Electabuzz as his ace. This usually strong Electric Pokémon is highly resistant to most attacks and can knock out its opponent (including Ash's Pikachu) with a single hit.
Magneton has a connection to sunspots
Magneton is actually three magnetites linked together
Magnemite is a common sight in grasslands and power plants. Magnemite is small but can generate powerful thunderbolts. When three Magnemites join together, they will evolve into a single Magneton, although technically they are still individual Magnemites. These Pokemon have been known to scan their surroundings by releasing mysterious radio waves, especially if they want to stay safe from potential threats. The magnetic force surrounding Magnet Pokémon can be very dangerous to electronics, and as such, many trainers are advised to keep their Magneton in their Poke Ball until it is safe.
Magnemite and Magneton are both found all over the world, from Kanto to Kalos; Clemont from Lumiose Gym has a Magneton in his list that can actually be split into individual Magnemite, thus decentralizing in a way. In Kanto, several trainers have been seen working with Magnet Pokémon, for both battle and everyday life. For example, a wild Magneton, while working with his Magnemite friends, once saved Ash and his buddies from being attacked by a Grimer. Meanwhile, the Magnemite Trainer, Ethan, owns a unique Magneton that was actually developed to save his friends, new and old, from Team Rocket's latest plan.

Jolteon can unleash devastating bolts of lightning
An electric type eveelution that is highly sensitive
Although not as popular as Fairy-type Sylveon or Dark-type Umbreon, Electric-type Eeveelution Jolteon is still very popular among fans. To obtain a Jolteon, a trainer must give their Eevee a Thunder Stone, which initiates the evolution process. Lightning Pokémon is a very sensitive type that gets upset easily and thus charges electricity. This electric type will therefore work best with patient trainers, especially as the coat becomes needle-like when startled.
Ethan, Volkner, and Sparky are three well-known Jolteon Trainers from the original anime; Trace and Sayo are also seen using their own Jolteons Pokemon Evolutions. However, some fans may not know that Red himself had a powerful Jolteon in the miniseries Pokémon Origins. Like his trainer, Red's Jolteon has a strong sense of justice and worked with the legendary hero to stop Team Rocket's violent plans after learning of Cubone's tragic past. The same Lightning Pokémon remained by Red's side as he strived to defeat the Elite Four and the champion, showing off his impressive (and literally shocking) displays of thunderbolt generation.
Raichu is the evolved form of Pikachu
The formidable Lt Surge ace
Compared to pre-evolution Pikachu, Raichu is not as famous. Regardless, the Mouse Pokémon remains a very popular Pokémon and a favorite among many fans. In fact, the Electric-type is one of the few Pokemon with not just one Mega Evolution, but two. Both Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y debuted in the Mega Dimensions DLC for Pokemon Legends: ZAand each excels in its own unique methods of working with electricity.
Lt. Surge's powerful Raichu is one of the most well-known animated mouse Pokemon in history, and almost convinced Ash to evolve his Pikachu into one. However, Pikachu has remained adamant about his desire to remain as he is, a choice that Ash wholeheartedly supports. Goh, one of Ash's former traveling companions, also owns a Raichu who acts as a peacekeeper among not only the rest of his group, but any group she encounters. Although she doesn't use moves as often or as powerfully as Lt. Surge's own, Raichu is still capable of unleashing intense Thunderbolt attacks.
Zapdo's powers can generate intense summer storms
Zapdos usually nest in thunderclouds
As one of the legendary bird Pokemon of Kanto, Zapdos is closely associated with Lugia along with Articuno and Moltres. In fact, Electric Pokémon had a leading supporting role in Pokemon the Movie 2000where it was captured by the Collector Lawrence III along with his comrades, as the antagonist wanted to bring Lugia out of his slumber. The legendary Pokemon was enraged and posed a very real threat to the region and had to be calmed down by Ash and Lugia. Like other Electric-type Pokémon, Zapdos can generate amazing Thunderbolt attacks, but due to its strength, it is much, much more dangerous.
In the anime, Zapdos debuted in the episode “As Clear As Crystal”, where it acted as the guardian of a magical crystal that powered a nearby lake. With the power of this jewel, the lake could heal any electric Pokemon. Unfortunately, Team Rocket tried to steal the crystal, and then Zapdos, when they became aware of its power. Thankfully, with the help of Ash and his friends, their plan fails, and Zapdos is able to deliver a nasty electric shock to their enemies.
Pikachu is loved for its cuteness and its power
Without a doubt, Pikachu is the most loved Pokemon of all. Acting as the franchise's mascot since the nineties, fans all over the world love Pikachu for its adorable looks, friendly personality and sheer power. But Mouse Pokémon's popularity really rose thanks to the original Pokémon anime. In the very first episode, Ash Ketchum would suddenly become the trainer of an independent Pikachu after losing his chance to select another starter.
Although the two had trouble seeing eye to eye at first, Ash and Pikachu would quickly become the best of friends after the first episode. Right from the start, it would soon become apparent that Ash's Pikachu was unusually strong for its species, even without evolving into a Raichu. Over time, as Ash traveled from Kanto to Galar, Pikachu's own strength would only increase and become even more impressive. This power would not only allow Ash to win the Masters Eight tournament near the end of the series, but also give Pikachu the power he needed to stand up to legendary Pokémon.
