Over the centuries, there have been many avatars that have influenced the fate of the world in different ways. Each time the Avatar dies, they are reincarnated into the next element in the cycle. Not all Avatars are the samehowever, as some have more feats and achievements than others.
Avatar Roku
Of all the Avatars, without a doubt, the most underwhelming is Avatar RokuThe Avatar that came just before Avatar Aang. Originally a Fire Bender, Roku spent much of his life mastering the four elements. He was also a great help to Aang on his journey.

Because of that, all airbenders were wiped out, making him the last remaining airbender. When he was freed from the ice by Katara, he began to learn the remaining 3 elements to take down the Fire Lord Ozai.
His power, especially in the Avatar state, is quite impressive. Fans haven't seen much of Aang as an adult, but Aang at 12 was already a force to be reckoned with, defeating Ozai during Sozin's Comet.
Avatar Korra
Korra is Aang's successor and the latest Avatar. Korra lives in a time where technology is advancing and the Avatar's role in the world is being questioned more. Avatar Korra had to fight enemies on a completely different scale compared to the previous Avatars.
Besides Wan, she is the only other avatar known to directly communicate with Raava. With that power, she defeated the Dark Avatar and many powerful enemies, such as Amon the Bloodbender and Kuvira, who commanded the Earth Empire.
However, Korra lost her connection to previous avatars and is now the first avatar in the new cycle that will last another 10,000 years. She also changed the world by deciding to reverse Avatar Wan's decision and unite the human and spirit worlds.
