Jujutsu Kaisen will forever go down in history as one of the best dark shonen anime of all time. It tells a fantastic story full of unforgettable moments brought to life by a diverse cast of characters who each bring their heart, soul and fighting skills to drive the plot forward, making every fight and encounter impactful for readers and viewers alike.
Say hello to Jujutsu Kaisen's new Gojo Satoru
Gojo died in JJK, but Gege just created a new Gojo in Modulo.
However, Jujutsu Kaisen is no stranger to characters who in one way or another also destroy parts of Gege Akutami's masterpiece. They can either be villains, who overcomplicate stories, or those minor characters whose unnecessary antics add little to the story. Even Yuji Itadori's most powerful allies can also ruin the overall JJK experience for fans.
Haruta Shigemo
-
Haruta Shigemo's tragic death at the hands of Ryomen Sukuna is one of the most satisfying character deaths in the entire series. Not only because Gege permanently removed Haruta from the series, but also because his instant death did not allow fans to sympathize with him, as it came without meaning and redemption.
One of the reasons Haruta Shigemo ruined parts of the Shibuya Incident arc was due to his sadistic tendencies and cowardice at the same time. He did not use his combat intelligence properly, letting fear and impulsiveness dictate his actions and decisions. Even worse, he appeared out of nowhere to make established characters like Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki look bad. He was a villain with no background, and his only motivation was personal gain or sadistic fun.

Yoshinobu Gakuganji
Jujutsu KaisenThe resident old man, Yoshinobu Gakuganji, is no stranger to backlash. Despite rocking a guitar as his cursed tool to make him look cooler than anyone else, fans aren't impressed with his overall effectiveness or personality, as his flashy looks can't make up for his minimal contribution to important battles.
Worse, Gakuganji's hands aren't clean at all. Not only did he wish for Yuji Itadori's execution, but he also killed a loved one Jujutsu Kaisen character despite his underwhelming abilities. As a result, most fans burn with hatred when he appears, frustrated that such an unlikable character was given such a destructive influence.
Mei Mei
Mei Mei is one of the most consistent characters in Jujutsu Kaisenmaking her predictable for most of the story. She serves as a contrast to Nanami Kento, serving as a foil to his kindness, compassion, and sense of duty. Instead, she is profit-driven and pragmatic, putting herself above all others when the risk outweighs the potential reward.
That's one of the reasons some fans couldn't accept her actions during the Shibuya Incident arc, even though it was understandable for her to save herself. However, the biggest reason there is so much hate for Mei Mei is because of her intimate relationship with her brother that borders on inappropriate, making fans uncomfortable with the depiction of their closeness in the series.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.
Start
Shoko Ieri
Shoko Ieri bore a great responsibility Jujutsu Kaisen as the main doctor for our heroes. She had helped Gojo Satoru and the rest of the students in Jujutsu High when they needed medical attention to the best of her ability. But her best wasn't good enough for fans to appreciate it at all.
Instead, Shoko received a lot of criticism for her incompetence. As someone who was supposed to be a healing expert, many fans believe that her reverse cursed technique was useless for the most part. Perhaps the last straw was Shoko's failure to bring Gojo back to life, showing the disconnect between her supposed expertise and her actual impact on the story.
Naoya Zenin
For someone with so much aura, Naoya Zenin was meant to dominate fights and earn the respect of the fans. But Gege Akutami clearly established Naoya as a character designed to attract more hate than compliments from the audience. After all, he comes across as arrogant and entitled, constantly looking down on others, including his own family members.
Worst of all, Naoya absolutely embodies misogyny, treating female wizards like Maki with blatant disrespect. He looks down on women as inferior at every turn. As a result, most fans cannot forgive him for his toxic masculinity, making him one of the most loathed characters in the series.
Momo Nishimiya
Momo Nishimiya rarely gets screen time Jujutsu Kaisen after the Shibuya Incident arc, fans continue to criticize her for clashing with Nobara and her failure to acknowledge Maki Zenin's struggle during the Goodwill event. To them, Momo is so blinded by her admiration for Mai that she fails to appreciate Maki's hard work, making her come across as petty and dismissive.
Additionally, while Momo possesses fascinating abilities ideal for scouting and intelligence gathering, she was severely underutilized in the series, leaving her as a character with wasted potential whose skills could have been game-changing. Because of this, some fans even want to replace her with Nanami, which shows how little they think of her.
Hana Kurusu
This list wouldn't be complete without Hana Kurusu, who despite her broken abilities has annoyed fans with her lack of incredible fights, her persistent crush on Megumi Fushiguro, and her repeated failure to finish off Sukuna, not once but twice, with Jacob's Ladder. She had the potential to end the story, but she fumbled painfully.
For this reason, fans often criticize her as a one-dimensional character whose purpose was simply to trigger Gojo Satoru's re-entry into the battlefield. She served a single purpose and later ended up as a sidelined character despite her overpowered abilities.
