My Hero Academia has one of the most fascinating anime worlds because of the concept quirks or meta-abilities unique to each individual. Properties simply refer to superpowers that reshaped human society and turned what was once considered extraordinary into ordinary. While Quirks come in various forms, characters with powerful meta-abilities tend to get more recognition in the series.
Unfortunately, those with underrated, weaker quirks often overlooked not only by the civilians but also by the fans. If only these quirks were given proper training, development and creative use, they could compete with even the most overpowered quirks of MHA. That said, let's take a closer look at these weak quirks that would have been OP if brought up.
Pop Off (Minoru Mineta)
Minoru Mineta is one of the most unforgettable students in Class 1-A, not only because of his shy yet perverted personality but also because of his Pop Off quirk. Known to many as “grape-head”, Mineta can pluck sticky spheres from his head that stick to almost any surface but himself. Whenever he is in a difficult situation, he uses his quirk to either immobilize enemies or protect himself.
While it's hard to take Mineta's quirk seriously, it's easy to see the untapped potential of Pop Off. If treated with the same seriousness as other Quirks, Mineta could be very useful in team fights that require complete crowd control.
It would also be easy for Mineta to reshape the terrain of the battlefield with her spheres. He was also able to hold back his enemies quirks, provided he has proper placement and timing. If his stamina and endurance were more developed, he could use his quirk for longer periods of time without harming himself.
Object Attraction (Inko Midoriya)
My Hero Academia haven't really explored Inko Midoriya's Nameless Object Attraction Quirk which acts as a weak telekinetic ability. What we do know is that she can pull nearby small objects to her, as if they were magnetically drawn into her hands. Other than that, the series failed to provide more detail on the quirk's limitations.
But if Inko was given a chance to train her quirk properly, she could develop her seemingly sweet power into a dangerous ability. If you are a fan of Eleven from Stranger Thingsit is easy to imagine how powerful she could become. She could crush her opponents, hold them back, or worse, target their body parts and kill them outright with her quirk.
Electrification (Denki Kaminari)
It's rare for anime characters with electricity-themed abilities to come across as weak, yet My Hero Academia has Denki Kaminari. He was expected to develop into a very capable hero, but his quirk kept him down time and time again. Too bad many fans still consider Denki a comic relief character despite the huge potential of his electrification trait.
With Electrification, Denki can unleash electricity from his body to attack and paralyze his enemies. The biggest downside to his quirk is his inability to control it, leaving him vulnerable and useless after exhausting his power. If only Denki could control his electricity, electrification could become a top tier property. Just imagine Denki with unlimited electricity; he would surely give Thor a chance to get the money.
Warp Gate (Kurogiri)
Kurogiri gave so much trouble to the heroes and the forces of good with his Warp Gate trait, which allowed him to transport anything he wanted. From the members of the League of Villains to Shigaraki Tomura himself, Kurogiri's quirk was a vital asset to the villains. This ability changes the game so much that it easily changes the outcome of any battle by instantly moving allies and giving them openings to attack.
However, Kurogiri mostly used his Warp Gate quirk to help his allies throughout MHA. In theory, he could open a portal in space or perhaps to another dimension to trap his opponents. He could also use an enemy's own attacks against them by strategically placing warp gates, making him nearly invincible.
Anivoice (Koji Koda)
Koji Koda has one of the most terrifying quirks in MHA should Anivoice be awakened. His quirk allows him to command all kinds of animals, from birds and insects to sea creatures, if they are within his influence. However, the series limited the use of Koji's quirk by limiting him to a supporting role.
With the right training, exposure and development, Koji could have been an unstoppable hero. Gathering an army of insects like Shino Aburame from Naruto would be easy for him, allowing him to perform coordinated attacks to defeat opponents. He could also command other animals to scout battlefields, create distractions, or even organize a race. With mastery over his Anivoice Quirk, the possibilities are endless.
Invisibility (Toru Hagakure)
Being invisible to the naked eye is Toru Hagakure's greatest strength. She is perfect for heroic missions that require stealth, scouting or surprise attacks, as her invisibility ability allows her to move undetected. She could easily sabotage enemy positions, making her the ultimate spy hero in MHA.
But as fans know, Hagakure's quirk is more than just invisibility. She can also refract light and use it to her advantage. If she had been given a chance to train further, she might have been able to manipulate the light completely. We might have seen her create realistic illusions, form light-based weapons, or even bend her surroundings to disappear entirely. More than anything else, Toru may have been given the ability to turn his quirk on and off at will, instead of being wrong every now and then.
