Naruto: The 24 Most Iconic Female Characters

These iconic female characters from the Naruto series are well known for their influence on Masashi Kishimoto's popular series.

Among these characters, some have had a major effect on the plot in Narutoso having an unfinished or inadequate ending is quite disappointing. Some of these characters may still be present in the Naruto universe by occasionally appearing in the Borutobut often does not have a strong plot in the story. Here are six characters who have had the most disappointing endings in Naruto.

Neji Hyuga

Shinobi of the Hyuga clan

Neji Hyuga naruto characters who could lead their own series

  • Always thought he had a sealed fate

  • Eventually becomes close with Naruto

  • He died protecting his friends

Neji Hyuga spent much of his younger years believing that everyone had a destiny that could not be avoided. However, after Neji is defeated by Naruto in battle, he grows closer to Naruto and begins to believe that effort and building friendships can prove that no one has a predetermined destiny. But his last scene during Fourth Great Ninja War turns out differently.

To protect Naruto from incoming attacks from the Ten-Tails, Neji jumps in front of wooden projectiles aimed at Naruto. At that moment, Neji believed that Naruto would turn the war around, and so he sacrificed himself to protect Naruto. But this only proves his original belief in the predestination of all, and he sadly died without having much effect on the outcome of the war. He deserved to be able to change his fate and live reform the Hyuga clan.

Orochimaru

  • Committed unspeakable acts

  • Changes his ways and begins research on developing life

  • Trained Sasuke for a short period

Orochimaru is one of quite a few characters in Naruto who was introduced as a villain, only to eventually turn over a new leaf and start supporting Naruto and others. But before he changed, he committed some serious crimesincluding human experiments, stealing bodies to make himself immortal, killing the Third Hokage and much more. But after all these crimes, he was never really held accountable.

Naruto: Characters who became surprisingly strong

Naruto: 8 Characters Who Got Surprisingly Strong

You can't judge some Naruto characters by their looks. Here are some unlikely examples that turned out to be surprisingly strong.

While characters should be allowed to change their ways, after committing so many unspeakable acts, Orochimaru should have received some sort of consequence to make up for it. Instead of letting Orochimaru continue researching the evolution of life as if nothing had happened before, there should have been some responsibility or way to earn redemption. It almost feels too easy and unfair to those he killed or abused.

The wife

  • Was one of the founders of the original Akatsuki

  • Eventually became the village chief of Amegakure

  • Be close to Yahiko and Nagato

The wife was a character in Naruto universe that deserved much more attention and a deeper dive into her story. She was one of the founders of Akatsuki, a group meant to protect the Hidden Rain Village, or Amegakure, from war. She did this on the side Yahiko and Nagatowho she grew up with when they were all taken in by Jiraiya and trained in ninjutsu. But soon she loses both Yahiko and Nagato.

After losing the two people she was closest to, Konan completely changes and even defects from Akatsuki. While she finally follows a path of peace after being part of a violent organization for a while, suddenly loses his life to Obito. Soon after, he dumps her body in the sea, causing her to be completely erased from history. This ending was completely unfair, especially since she had finally decided to walk down a path of light, even after losing everyone she loved.

He believed that wiping out the entire clan would help avoid war.

Naruto: 6 Most Senseless Victims in the Series, Ranked

These characters ended up making sacrifices that ended up being completely pointless in Naruto.

Although Itachi's actions were brutal and gratuitous, it left a lot unresolved for Sasuke, and he couldn't come to terms with what was happening to his family and clan. Especially since Itachi died after his final battle with Sasuke, Sasuke likely felt a lot of remorse and shame after realizing Itachi's original intentions. Itachi deserved to have a better ending with Sasuke and explained everything to his brother himself.

Naruto Uzumaki

Shinobi and reincarnation of Asura Otsutsuki

  • One of the strongest shinobi

  • Achieved his dream by becoming the Seventh Hokage

  • Called as the Hero of the Hidden Blade

As the main character throughout Naruto series, it makes sense that many fans would feel an emotional connection to Naruto and protect his position as a hero. Growing up as a young shinobi, he always dreamed of becoming Hokage, which he achieved by building up his strength over the years and even saving the world during The Fourth World War in Shinobi.

Despite his incredibly impressive history, however, he changes completely Boruto. Not only is he drowning in work as Hokage, but he is rarely home to spend time with his wife and children. This completely reduces Naruto as a character and eventually supports his children, Boruto and Himawari, to take over from him in the future. For many, this is a hard pill to swallow as fans have spent years with Naruto and watched him grow into one of the strongest shinobi to ever live.

Kurama

The Nine-Tails

Naruto Jinchuriki Kurama Boruto

  • Was sealed in Naruto Uzumaki

  • Is one of the nine-tailed beasts

  • Originally had a contempt for humans

Kurama is known as the strongest of the tailed beasts in the Naruto world, and he had a strong disdain for humans for years due to them using him as a weapon. When he is eventually sealed inside Naruto, he becomes close to him and changes his perspective on humanity. Kurama even begins to show concern for Naruto's well-being, and the two respect each other greatly.

d

But Naruto eventually has to fight Isshiki Otsutsuki, and he uses Baryon mode to take him down. But to use this amount of power, Kurama sacrifices his life for Naruto. Kurama eventually reincarnates inside Naruto's daughter, Himawari, but there isn't much information to explain how this happened. As someone who was by Naruto's side for most of his journey, Kurama deserved a better ending and to have a more meaningful reincarnation.
