This article contains spoilers from Boruto manga.
When Boruto began serializing, Naruto Uzumaki was the strongest ninja who successfully united all major villages. Under the Seventh Hokage's watch, the entire world enjoyed an unprecedented era of peace and technological advancement until powerful villains like Momoshiki and Isshiki Otsutsuki destroyed that harmony.
Years later, Naruto Uzumaki is not in his prime anymoreand the once unstoppable hero who saved the world has grown weaker and weaker Boruto. While Naruto is still a very capable and influential ninja, his overwhelming strength has noticeably diminished, allowing the next generation to take on powerful villains that once claimed the Seventh Hokage himself.

Naruto stopped getting new power ups
Naruto's Baryon Mode can only be used once
In every dangerous battle that Naruto Uzumaki participated in, he usually gained a new power-up or transformation to get ahead of the opponent, turning seemingly impossible battles into opportunities for growth. This trend continued into Boruto until he gained access to Baryon Mode during the decisive fight with Isshiki Otsutsuki, at the cost of his and Kurama's life powers.
At the moment, Baryon Mode stands as Naruto's ultimate power-up, one he cannot use again after losing his status as jinchuriki of the Nine Tails. It's been ages since Naruto unlocked a new power-up, and with no transformations on the horizon, his strength planned. While the next generation of ninjas get overwhelmed upgrades one by one, Naruto gets nothing.

Naruto is off the battlefield
Naruto remains sealed in another dimension
Longtime fans of the Seventh Hokage are used to seeing Naruto lead the fight against powerful villains on the battlefield. In the original series, Naruto was consistent in stepping up as the decisive force, dominating the toughest battles not only through sheer skill and power, but also through compassion and determination. When Naruto fought head-on, he even inspired his allies to push their limits.
Unfortunately, Boruto removing Naruto from the battlefieldsidelining him effectively by sealing him off. Instead of seeing Naruto hanging out with the likes of Code, Jura, and God Trees, he is frozen in time in the Daikokuten dimension. There, he doesn't get stronger, and he also misses out on the most exciting fights, leaving fans yearning for the unstoppable version of Naruto Uzumaki who once carried the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Naruto requires protection and saving
Naruto's fate is dependent on other characters
Who would have thought that the legendary Naruto Uzumaki would now require protection and rescue from the next generation to survive in Boruto? After losing Kurama, Naruto has become more vulnerable than everto the point that even Kawaki feels compelled to step in and protect him. Not to mention, Shikamaru and other experienced allies have become increasingly concerned about his welfare and are monitoring his whereabouts to ensure his safety.
But now that Naruto has been sealed away, his freedom is entirely in the hands of others, possibly Boruto or Sarada, leaving him powerless to directly influence events. In other words, the current situation is out of Naruto's control unless Kishimoto and Ikemoto unexpectedly provide him with a way to break free, train in secret, or regain his influence in the other dimension.

Boruto's new villains are overpowered
From Momoshiki to Jura and the God Trees
Did Boruto series nerf Naruto Uzumaki or did the manga just keep introducing overpowered villains, leaving even the Seventh Hokage struggling to keep up with threats he once would have handled with ease? Perhaps this is one of the questions every Naruto fans have right now, especially given the overwhelming power levels of the villains in the Boruto.
Currently, Jura is the strongest villain in Borutoand many fans believe that he could easily overpower the current Naruto if he were to face him head on. Then there is Code, who is weaker than Jura but poses a serious threat to Naruto now that his limiters have been removed. On top of that, the Otsutsuki clan continues to exist as a formidable force, with its god-level abilities and unpredictable actions.

Boruto gets stronger with the speed of lightning
Boruto has already surpassed Naruto
At this point, it's not hard to assume that Boruto Uzumaki has already surpassed Naruto in his own series. This would be a tough pill to swallow for longtime Naruto fans, but seeing Boruto's growth, his rapid mastery of powerful techniques, and his potential to exploit full force of Karma with Momoshiki Otsutsuki's collaboration makes it clear that he has already entered a league of his own.
That's not all, either Boruto Uzumaki will get more special upgrades in the series, whether Naruto fans like it or not. While the ability for Naruto to gain new power-ups is still uncertain, the story is clearly pushing for Boruto will emerge as the new strongest shinobi by giving him more room to grow. It's not just Boruto who gets stronger, as Sarada Uchiha and even Himawari Uzumaki have huge potential to surpass their parents.
