Sony's PlayStation 5 is already one of the most successful video game consoles of all time, and when all is said and done, it could even potentially surpass the PS4's sales numbers. Sony has been able to sell so many PS5 consoles because almost every major video game release is readily available on the system.
New PS5 games are regularly released every month, ranging from big-budget exclusives to blockbuster third-party titles and a seemingly endless supply of indies. While new PS5 games are released almost every week, the games are usually pretty spread out so it's not a bunch dropping at once. One exception to that rule is this coming Monday, December 8, where five new PS5 games will be released on the exact same day. How this might affect their sales is unclear, but it's definitely an interesting lineup of games coming out on December 8th.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is one of the more notable PS5 games to be released on December 8, as it will actually be published by Xbox Game Studios. For those unfamiliar with the game, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is exactly what the name suggests — an updated flight simulator where players fly airplanes and other aircraft around the world. It didn't quite get the same acclaim as its immediate predecessor, but it's still a tremendous simulation experience for aviation enthusiasts to check out. It also marks yet another Xbox game that has made the jump to PS5, which is always interesting to see.
Skating historymeanwhile, could very well be one of the most played of all the new PS5 games coming on December 8th. It is because Skating history is one day a PS Plus Extra game, meaning that subscribers to that tier of the service will be able to play through it in its entirety without paying anything beyond what they already do for their subscription.
Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 will include graphics and performance boosts on PS5, while Yakuza 0: Director's Cut will have all that and more. Yakuza 0: Director's Cut includes new cutscenes, an online multiplayer mode called Red Light Raid, and other content that was not available in the original version of the game. It's a bit more comprehensive and might be enough to convince fans who have already played through Yakuza 0 to revisit it on PS5.
What makes December 8th even more unusual when it comes to new PS5 games being released on that day is the fact that it's a Monday. Most of the time, new video games are released on Tuesdays and Fridays, and sometimes Thursdays. It's definitely unusual for all of these games to be released on a Monday, but it should make for a more exciting Monday than PS5 players are used to.
