2025 was a pretty amazing year for anime releases. The year started with completely new series, such as e.g Takopi's Original Sinand adaptation of such as Gachiakuta. 2025 also saw the return of many highly anticipated anime, some of which include Solo Leveling Season 2, The Apothecary Diaries Season 2, and My Hero Academia Season 8. It's safe to say that 2025 didn't lack anything when it comes to exciting content, but of course the year wasn't perfect either.

One Punch Man is one of the most popular and recognizable shonen series worldwide. The story follows the adventures of Saitama, which has definitely captured the attention of millions of fans over the years.

One of the worst mistakes that fans have pointed out is the accidental gender bending of one of the characters, the Royal Ripper.
To be clear, this is not the fault of the animators or the staff working on it. These problems exist because they have been given an impossible job of adapting the anime in a very short time frame and getting a product out when they don't have enough time or resources to do so.

On MAL, one of the largest anime rating platforms in the world, One Punch Man officially became the lowest rated anime season of 2025, and it's not like it didn't have competition for this title.
In fact, 2025 also saw the release of The Beginning After the End for fans. For a while, TBATE was the lowest rated anime of the year, with a score of 6.18 out of 10. One Punch Man Season 3 edged it out, with its low score of 4.69. With this score, One Punch Man becomes #14233 highest rated series on the entire platformwhich is definitely shameful for a series of its size.
One Punch Man will not recover from two huge flops
One Punch Man season 3 could mark the end of the franchise. This is especially true since One Punch Man Season 3 is coming off another disastrous season, which dropped back in 2019.
One Punch Man Season 2 was also a terrible adaptation, but many would actually say it was much better than One Punch Man Season 3. Despite all the issues, the previous season still has a 7.53 rating, for context.
Unless the One Punch Man staff is given proper time to adapt the manga with actual resources instead of crippling them, it's unlikely that the series will ever recover or reach even a fraction of what it did back in its first season in 2015.
