Two different games that have recently announced cancellations for Xbox, 1348 Ex Voto and Nickelodeon Splat Packwill still appear on competing consoles. There has been talk in the gaming community over the past few months about the current state of the Xbox, and the loss of two upcoming games could add to the discussion.
Game cancellations can be very upsetting for fans, and they seem to have happened with surprising regularity in recent years. Earlier in January, Ubisoft's stock took a big hit after the announcement of six canceled games, including a remake of The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Two games that recently backed out of a planned launch on Xbox are still going ahead, although they will make it to other platforms.

Xbox fans can do without 1348 Ex Voto and Nickelodeon Splat Packtwo games that were slated for release on the Xbox Series X|S but will now only be available on other platforms. Less than a week ago, news broke about the medieval cinematic action-adventure game 1348 Ex Voto will be a PlayStation 5 console exclusive despite previously being slated for release on the Xbox Series X|S. Developer Sedleo announced that it is pulling back from Xbox in order to give its players the “best possible experience for PlayStation and PC”, the platforms for which the game will launch on March 12. While the independent development team didn't go into detail about the reasons behind the change in the platforms that will run the game, it sounds like they feel like optimizing 1348 Ex Voto for a single console in addition to PC, their business will run more smoothly, and Xbox is the unfortunate loser in the situation.
It is not yet clear how much of an impact the shutdown of the Xbox version will have on the game or the console. Based in Italy, Sedleo is a small development studio made up of 15 gaming industry veterans. Having been founded just a few years ago, 1348 Ex Voto will be its first major gaming venture. Set in a world ravaged by plague, early impressions of the game have drawn comparisons between it and the game Kingdom Come: Deliverance series, and starring Jennifer English, winner of Best Performance at The Game Awards 2025 for her role in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33is sure to excite many players.
The other upcoming game that has recently been pulled from its planned Xbox launch is Nickelodeon Splat Packa collection of three games originally released in the 1990s that are built around popular Nickelodeon cartoons and competition shows of yesteryear. The pack will be released on January 30th and will include the video game adaptation of the sports competition show INTESTINESnext AAAHH!!! Real monsters and Rocko's Modern Life: Spunky's Dangerous Day. Limited Run Games, its publisher, reportedly stated that an Xbox Series X|S version of this collection had been planned, but Nickelodeon Splat Pack will now only launch for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. No official reason has been given for canceling the Xbox version, and the announcement coming just days before the multi-platform launch could easily throw potential players off guard.
These aren't the only two games that have been canceled for Xbox in recent months, though several other cancellations have come from within Microsoft. During the summer of 2025, Rare's is cancelled Everwild and that Perfectly dark reboots were both announced, coinciding with a round of layoffs at Microsoft-owned studios and the closing of Perfectly darks development studio, The Initiative.
