The upcoming medieval indie game Knight's Path looks pretty good, although the comparisons to Kingdom Come: Deliverance are hard to put aside. It also hit the headlines yesterday when its social media account answered a question regarding the potential for LGBTQ representation with a rather… um… interesting little answer.
Well, whatever. You do you. Meanwhile 1348: Ex Voto is released in two months. It's also set in the Middle Ages – the late Italian Middle Ages (as suggested by its title), to be exact – and it's an extraordinarily LGBTQ-centric game. All well and good; whether it has a front-and-center romance or not, and regardless of its context, is generally immaterial to many people. However, a look at the number of wishlists it appears on invites stark contrast to Knight's Path's rather abrasive and financially dubious words.
Six weeks left too
1348: Ex Voto isn't released until March 12, so there's still plenty of time for its 100,000+ wishlist to be joined by even more potential buyers. As with Knight's Path, 1348 is also an indie game. So… that's probably a big number, in context.
Highguard is actually alive, and it's being showcased on launch day
Day and date.
Described as “a cinematic action-adventure game inspired by chivalric tales,” it has some legitimately gorgeous screenshots, and the history geek in me can't wait to give it a whirl. Are people particularly intrigued by that LGTBQ element of the lead relationship between protagonist Aeta and Jennifer English's latest major role as Bianca? Yes! Probably! I don't want to throw any guesses out there, but I bet at least a few thousand wishlists are here specifically for that!
At the same time, I bet there's a lot more, simply digging what 1348: Ex Voto looks like, or enjoying the setting or what we've seen of its overall gameplay elements. What is my point in all this? Simply put, Knight's Tale can't do what it wants on the representation front (which isn't to say that more reps aren't better, because that's always cool when that happens!), but saying this when a somewhat similar upcoming launch does this…?
Your choice, developers. Nobody thinks this is mandatory. But here's an interesting little note: homosexual relationships have existed and been documented throughout human history. Labeling representation as “modern agendas” is just… what did one person say in response? Oh, right.
Well said, Mace, ah, Windu. It's that simple. 1348: Ex Voto launches on March 12, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC. Looks cool.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is currently “playable” and will include a “powered-up version” of Queen's Blood
Queen's Blood returns in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, and it will be even more powerful.
